In The Heart of Summer, Our Top Tips for Connecting With Your Heart Center

With a little less than two months of summer we are officially in the heart (and heat) of summer. In last month's blog post we mentioned that the seasons all correlate with our human life cycle. In this comparison summer equates to life. We know that our lives exist around our hearts, the deepest and truest version of ourselves lies within our heart center. So what exactly is the purpose of our lives? I believe that it is to discover and live by our greatest truth. So how do we do this exactly? We start by tapping in to heart center, with a little help this process of connection is seemingly effortless. Continue reading to discover our top tips for connecting with your heart center!

1. Yoga

It is no secret that yoga can help us discover the true essence of our being. According to the Bhagavad Gita, yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self. So what better way to journey inward then with the practice of yoga? There are TONS of yoga postures that help open our heart center for connection. Some of my favorites include: Camel, Upward Dog, Supported Fish, Bridge Pose, Cat/Cow, Dancer, Thread the Needle (gotta open the back side of the heart too!) and of course Heart Melting Posture!

2. Crystals

Crystals are rocks and minerals that come from the earth and hold different energetic properties that help bring balance to our energy bodies. You can use crystals for everything from relaxation to manifestation, grounding to enlightenment and SO much more! Some of my favorite crystals for the heart are:

  • Malachite: “stone of transformation” and is used for deep energy cleaning, bringing healing and positive transformation

  • Green tourmaline: can have healing effects on the physical heart

  • Emerald: Considered a stone of regeneration and recovery, assisting one in healing negative emotions. A stone of wisdom, love, and great harmony, an Emerald shall be a bridge between two people when the gem is given in love.

  • Green Aventurine: a comforter and heart healer, used to clear and activate the Heart Chakra for general well-being and emotional calm.

  • Amazonite: deeply stimulates the Heart Chakra

  • Rose Quartz: comforts and heals any wounds the heart has suffered, penetrating the inner chambers of the Heart Chakra where emotional experiences are recorded and stored. It dissolves the sorrows, worries, fears and resentments suppressing the heart's ability to give and receive love, and replaces it with healing, comfort and inner nourishment.

  • Rhodochrosite: reflects the Light of the heart and love, and stimulates the Heart Chakra.

3. Essential Oils

Essential oils are plant extracts that are very potent and can help with a wide range of things just like crystals! Also similar to crystals there are oils that very specifically help to nourish and support our heart. The oils I generally use to connect to my heart center are:

  • Lemon: Energizing, Clarity, Overcoming Overwhelming Feelings

  • Lavender: Balancing, Relaxing, Authentic Expression

  • Bergamot: Confidence, Calming, Promotes self love, worth and acceptance

  • Ylang Ylang: Emotional Balance, Boosts Heart Health, Moods & Energy

  • Rose: improves feelings of depression

  • Jasmine: boosts mood, alleviates stress, fights anxiety and depression, encourages intimacy

4. Meditation

There are lots of ways that meditation can help us connect with our heart center including visualization, Mantras and Deep Breathing! Some examples of each are listed below!

  • Visualization: Visualize a green rose bud sitting at the center of your chest/ Steady your breath and allow the rosebud to open with each inhale and exhale, watch each petal unfold one by one filling the space with openness while letting go of negative energy or emotions locked within the bud. Be patient as you slowly bloom.

  • Mantras: Repeat to yourself phrases like: I am loved. I give love. I love myself. I am a being of compassion. I share this love to everyone. I live in balance with grace and gratitude. I release all fears, concerns and worries about giving and receiving love. I know forgiveness.

  • Deep Breathing: Focus on deepening your breath and specifically filling your chest to full capacity.

5. Sound Healing

The vibration of the sound can help provide healing to your being by dissolving blockages and balancing the energy in your body. The vibration radiates into your body relaxing the mind and creating space for healing on a molecular level. There have been incredible studies that show the power of vibration check out the Japanese Water Study here! Our bodies are made of more than 70% water, so vibration has a MAJOR impact on us! The note "F" specifically resonates with the heart!
